An early work by Banksy and his fellow street artist Inkie, painted on the side of a trailer owned by travellers at the Glastonbury music festival in 1998, is coming up for auction in Paris in June. According to its unnamed owners, who are long-term travellers in the UK, Banksy asked permission before creating the work. “We agreed as it’s easy to paint over had we not liked it,” they say. Silent Majority (1998) shows a sound system landing on a beach. The military-style work is nearly 10m long and comes with a certificate of authenticity from Pest Control, which represents Banksy. It has been removed from the trailer and is due to be sold at Digard Auction on 1 June (est £300,000-£400,000).
