Miss Piggy can now add lauded feminist icon to her CV. On 4 June, the porcine puppet will join other women trailblazers like Anita Hill, Toni Morrison, Linda Nochlin and Sandra Day O’Connor when she is presented with the annual Sackler Center First Award at the Brooklyn Museum. After accepting her award, Miss Piggy will share the spotlight in a conversation with Gloria Steinem on stage. Despite his often-reticent reactions to Miss Piggy’s strong overtures, Kermit the Frog will show his support from the audience. Miss Piggy described herself as “thrilled—but frankly not surprised” about the news in a press release, saying: “It is truly wonderful to be celebrated and share this honour with fellow legends, role models and pioneers of female fabulosity. We rock!” Tickets, which will benefit the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art, can be purchased by contacting firstawards@brooklynmuseum.org.
