A little-known copy of Leonardo’s The Last Supper is undergoing extensive restoration funded by the French bank BNP Paribas.

Made in Milan between 1506 and 1509 by Leonardo’s pupil Marco d’Oggiono, the painting (above, detail) is now owned by the Musée National de la Renaissance in Ecouen. Conservators from the Centre de Recherche et de Restauration des Musées de France, based at the Louvre, are due to complete the project by August. The restoration, which can be viewed by the public, will clean the work’s layer of varnish.
