The Kunstmuseum Basel will close for refurbishment from February 2015 until March 2016, during which time its main building will be renovated, and a link created to a new extension, the construction of which is already under way. Both buildings will then open to the public at the same time. The announcement raised questions about the museum’s employees but according to the Basel newspaper Tages Woche, only 30 workers will be directly affected by the closure and might be transferred to other museums in the city.
