The billionaire collector Eli Broad (right) is among a group of property owners who want to reroute a planned two-mile connection that would join the city’s Expo, Blue, and Gold subway lines. Broad was the lead signatory on a letter sent to LA’s Metro and the Federal Transit Administration at the end of August asking them to change all three of the line’s new stations, which the group says will make them more convenient for passengers. “What is designed now will be what the Los Angeles public, and its visitors, experience for the remainder of this century,” the letter reads. In response, Metro says that after review, it found the coalition’s suggestion “more costly… and difficult to achieve” than its original plans.
