Warhol board bites the dust

Few will mourn its demise

Will the art world mourn the dissolution of the Warhol Authentication Board—and will it destabilise the market in works by the multi-million-dollar artist? Many in the New York art world say not, after a number of expensive law cases, including one brought by Joe Simon-Whelan, above, raised questions about the degree to which it will ever be possible to reach a consensus on “definitive” Warhol criteria.
