Claudia Waldner causes a stir with ball at Art Basel 2011

Fairgoers strolling through the Messeplatz had to dodge a woman pushing a large red ball yesterday. This was no jolly sports match but an art project gone awry as Claudia Waldner ran around the square inviting people to bounce her big, big ball. But baffled Art Basel attendees shied away from the action, as Claudia struggled to control her wayward spheroid, almost smashing a Ramada Plaza hotel window. When asked what the purpose of the piece was, Claudia’s assistant gamely replied: “She always does this with red things in different Swiss towns”
