The case against Marion True, the former Getty antiquities curator accused of conspiring to receive antiquities illegally excavated and exported from Italy, is almost certainly drawing to a close. The Italian lawyer representing True, Francesco Isolabella, told The Art Newspaper that he expects the case to be closed at next month’s hearing because the statute of limitations has expired. Isolabella says that he will forward a motion on 13 October asking the court to quash proceedings as the case has run out of time. The case against True’s co-defendant, antiquities dealer Robert Hecht has not yet expired, according to Isolabella, who does not represent Hecht.
