The official Chinese news agency, Xinhua, has reported that terracotta warriors on loan to Chile were unharmed in the 8 magnitude earthquake that struck on 27 February. A group of the third-century BC terracotta statues have been on display at La Moneda Palace in Santiago since December 2009 as part of “Ancient China and the Terracotta Army”, marking the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Chile. According to Zhang Tong from the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau: “All the terracotta warriors are intact”, and they will remain until the show closes in late April.
