A growing number of private collectors are setting up their own museums in Australia. David Walsh, a winery owner in Tasmania, is building the A$50m ($41m) Museum of Old and New Art, to show his collection, which includes John Brack’s The Bar, 1954, bought at Sotheby’s last year for A$3.17m ($2.6m). Mark Fraser, formerly of Sotheby’s Australia, will manage the project. In Sydney, fund manager Kerr Neilson and his wife are planning a museum for their Chinese contemporary collection, put together with the help of Sydney dealer Ray Hughes .
