Teresa Heinz Kerry, the wife of defeated presidential candidate Senator John Kerry, has announced a $4 million gift from the Heinz Endowments to the Andy Warhol Museum. The donation marks the conclusion of the museum’s 10th anniversary year. The gift increases the museum’s endowment to $7.1 million. Ms Heinz Kerry is chair of the Howard Heinz Endowment and trustee of the Vira Heinz Endowment, two philanthropic organisations set up by the family of her late first husband, Senator John Heinz. Together the endowments had already contributed $5 million to the Warhol Museum when the institution was founded in 1994. Ms Heinz Kerry is also a trustee of the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh which operates the Warhol and three other Pittsburgh museums.
