Inspired by Christo’s wrapping of the Berlin Reichstag, the city of Warsaw is planning to celebrate Poland’s entry into the European Union next summer by wrapping its tallest building, a Stalin-era skyscraper, in gold cloth. The cost of the project is estimated at E1.7 million but is expected to be a major tourist attraction for the city. The 42-floor building houses cinemas, theatres, museums, restaurants and galleries.
