100 Photographs: a collection by Bruce Bernard

Photographs from the 1840s to the 1990s never before shown in public

This eclectic mixture of works from the 1840s to the 1990s was assembled by the legendary former Sunday Times Magazine picture editor, Bruce Bernard, on behalf of artist and collector James Moores, of the Football Pools family. Never shown before, this remarkable collection contains as many works by celebrated figures such as Fox Talbot, Hill & Adamson, Cameron, Beato, Atget, Sander, Kertesz, Drtikol and Arbus—to name but a few— as images by anonymous, amateur and less well-known practitioners (such as this anonymous photo of a Waterloo veteran and his wife, dated 1850). All were chosen solely for their visual appeal and are displayed without chronology, other than the original order of their acquisition (until 26 January).
