Pollock Fine Art have just opened a new gallery at 21 Beak Street just off Regent Street. As well as showing the work of contemporary artists they have a special interest in Andy Warhol and Pop art. The first major exhibitions (until 1 June) on the ground and lower ground floor are devoted to Andy Warhol and Pop Art and there is also an exhibition based around the work of the Belgian surrealist Hans Bellmer The Warhol show includes some rare pre-Pop works, less glamorous than his iconic images of Mick Jagger and Brillo (also offered) but of real interest to serious collectors. Beginning with the tortuous, angst-ridden images of Bellmer, the Surrealist show has a strong Belgian flavour with works by Paul Delvaux an Leo Dohmen. It also shows three contemporary artists; Alexei Hay, Hans Breder and Carlos Pazos. American photographer Hay distorts fashion photography by using bearded and two-headed models among other outlandish and subversive images. Breder, while teaching at Iowa State in the 1960s, worked with his students as nude models. His photographs use mirror plane edges to distort and reflect parts of the body so they become dissolved and dematerialised with a mutant quality. A portion of all sales will go to the Aids charity Crusaid.
