Wolfgang Tillmans' new film "body" boogies at Maureen Paley Interim Art

Having just made the video for the Petshop Boys latest single “Home and dry”, which featured the rodent population of Tottenham Court Road tube station cavorting cutely among discarded food packaging, Wolfgang Tillmans is now unveiling a new film also using music but made solely in the name of art. "Body”, which goes on show this month at Maureen Paley Interim Art (14 March-21 April), continues Tillmans’ enduring interest in nightlife—both as observer and participant—by focusing on the transformative effects of dance floor lighting, accompanied by a sound track by Berlin-based Disco Diva Miss Kitty. Also at Interim are new portraits and more of Tillmans’ abstract photographs, created by superimposing fragments of landscape with effects of light and colour conjured up in the studio. Right, “Quarry”, 2001.
