This exhibition, conceived by Germano Celant of the Guggenheim New York as a joint production with the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, surveys the impact of the infamous studios set up by Andy Warhol between the late 1950s and the early 1980s. Three successive “Factories” became the nerve centre for Warhol’s sculpture and painting production, as well as many seperate ventures that included The Velvet Underground and Silver Factory Films. In addition to examples of Warhol’s ubiquitous paintings, there are displays of photographs, clothes and other archive material taken from the Factories.
