The Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí has created a commission to provide expertise on, and to catalogue works by, the great but frequently problematic Surrealist. The creation of this new body should bring some order to the controversies which have followed the break with Robert Descharnes, former secretary to the artist and head of the Demart Pro Arte company which formerly administered all rights to Dalí's work (see The Art Newspaper, No.41, October 1994, p. 3), and who has been accused of non-fulfilment of his remit. Members of the new commission are: Ana Beristain, a curator at the Centro Reina Sofia in Madrid; Antonio Pitxot, member of the Foundation, and director of the Dalí Museum and theatre in Figueras; Cesareo Rodríguez-Aguilera Conde, magistrate and art critic (all three of whom are on the board of the Fundació Dalí). Also on the commission are Felix Fanes, director of the Dalí Study Centre and Margarita Ruiz Combalía.
