Couturier Pierre Cardin is sponsoring a new initiative by the costume and textile department at the Victoria and Albert Museum. A fashion video collection is to be built up as a central part of the twentieth-century textiles and dress reference collection. A wide range of fashion videos will be assembled, including cat-walk shows, interviews with designers, footage of exhibitions and fashion news, available to students and designers by appointment. M. Cardin has purchased the equipment and has supplied videos from his own archive. The musem is hoping for further donations from the fashion industry, film-makers and TV networks.
