Kykuit, the Beaux-Arts Georgian country house built by John D. Rockefeller Jr around 1910 in the Pocantico Hills, Westchester County, N.Y., has been presented to the National Trust together with an endowment of $46.25 million (£26.4 million) from the Rockefeller family and Rockefeller Brothers Fund. The house has been unoccupied since Nelson Rockefeller died in 1979, but still contains part of his modern art collection, including bronzes by Picasso and Maillol, as well as many of the original furnishings of the house, decorated by Ogden Codman. It is expected to open Kykuit to the public in 1994.
